Readings for May 6

For those who would like to preview the lectionary for Sunday, May 6, the scriptures are: Acts 8:26-40, 1 John 4:7-21, Psalm 22:24-30, and John 15:1-8.

Adult Forum

Sunday we’ll look at Session 2 of the six-week series “Embracing Emergence Christianity,” based on Phyllis Tickle’s book, The Great Emergence. We encourage everyone to obtain the workbook to read the short essay ahead of each week’s discussion. These are available online or through the church for $13.50. Come join us at 9:30 a.m. outside the nursery door.

Haiti Bookmarks

As a fundraiser in support of our diocese’s Friendship with the Diocese of Haiti, our Diocesan Iconographer Joyce Tanner has produced a beautiful bookmark that is available on the Ministry Table today for a donation of $1. Thank you for your continued support of our work to help rebuild Haiti and reestablish the services the Episcopal Church provides to its many residents in need.

New Vestry Member

At its April 17 meeting, the Vestry selected Greg Wilson to fill the unexpired term of Claire Stone (ending December 2013).

Children’s Liturgy

May 13 is not only Mother’s Day, it’s also the date for our next Children’s Liturgy. We’ll celebrate the gift of the Holy Spirit! The choristers will sing for the final time this academic year, and we will make our Rogation Day prayers for the Children’s Pumpkin Patch and our Community Garden after the service.
