A Journey through Medieval Iberia and Occitania Sunday, April 21, 2013 3:00 p.m.
In an exciting new collaboration, multi-instrumentalist Tim Rayborn and vocalist Rita Lilly present secular songs of medieval Portugal, northern Spain, and southern France from the 12th and 13th centuries.
This program will feature Martin Codax’s magnificent Cantigas de Amigo song cycle mid-13th century; this seven song collection is the oldest such cycle surviving with music, miraculously recovered in the early 20th century, when the manuscript page was discovered in the binding of the later book. The concert will also feature the secular Portuguese cantigas instrumental realizations, and songs of the troubadours and trobairitz (female troubadours).
Performed with voices, symphonic, ‘ud, persussion, citole, and harp, this concert will present a unique window into the music from the time of the earliest stirrings of modern world.

This year, the women of the diocese are invited to enjoy a program facilitated by the Rev. Luis Rodriguez on the life, spirituality, and theology of Julian of Norwich, a 14th century English mystic and anchorite. Julian’s Revelations of Divine Love is recommended reading for the retreat. The retreat will be at Evergreen Conference Center (ECCO) in Oakhurst. More information is available at the back of the church on the Ministry Table.
Our Youth Group has decided to take on world hunger with The World Vision 30-Hour Famine! The fast will go from 5:00 p.m. Friday, May 31, to 6:00 p.m. Saturday, June 1. We will spend our time at the church learning, praying and working. There will be water at all times and scheduled juice breaks. We hope some our fellow parishioners who are not fasting, will prepare our break fast meal for us. Please contact Joyce if you can help. Please contact the youth with do-nations. Thank you for all who helped with last month’s Soul Kitchen Dinner. Our next Soul Kitchen community dinner will be April 26, 2013. The Soul Kitchen Dinner shares a simple, nutritious meal and fellowship with anyone who comes through our door. It is our hope that the parish will join us the last Friday of each month for food and fellowship.

This year we are joining St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Lodi to do VBS jointly with their congregation. We will have the opportunity to volunteer, contribute, and participate in the God’s Backyard Bible Camp program June 10-14, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Registration is open now; go to http://www.stpaullodi.net/vbs-2013.php for information and forms.
