Our Vestry has asked me to keep all members of our church up-to-date with progress in our search for a new rector. We made some important decisions at our last meeting on March 12, and here’s a summary of where we are so far.
We have arranged for an All Parish Meeting on Sunday, April 14th,after the 10:30 service. We’ll have a light lunch form of coffee hour, and then we’ll begin the meeting at 12:30. We plan to have this meeting last for an hour, or maybe just a little longer. The Bishop’s assistant, Canon Kate Cullinane, will lead us as we discuss what we treasure in this parish, as well what we’d like to change.

At the beginning of Lent, small boxes for collecting change were made available with our Lenten devotional materials. We would like to invite anyone who has used these boxes to bring them on Easter Sunday and place them at the altar as part of our offering. These funds will be sent to Episcopal Relief and Development for their charitable work with the poor and suffering of the world.
You are invited! Each year the Episcopal churches in every diocese hold a special service at which the Bishop blesses the oils used for anointing by clergy who are ministering to the sick and offering blessings at baptisms, confirmations, and the like. This service is also an opportunity for the clergy to renew their ordination vows and for all of us to reaffirm our commitment to living out our baptismal vows.
This year’s service will be held at Church of the Saviour, 519 N. Douty St., Hanford, at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 26. Lunch will be provided after the service. Please help us know how many to expect by notifying Ellen Meyer, the diocesan administrator, of your intentions, at 209-576-0104, or email@example.com.
All are invited to a free event at the University of the Pacific’s Morris Chapel (3601 Pacific Ave., Stockton) on Wednesday, March 27, at 7 p.m. “From Lament to Thanksgiving,” an evening with Brian Doerksen and friends, will feature ancient songs and stories inspired by biblical Psalms and prophets. Please pick up a postcard invitation at the back of the church!
In order to bring our numbers up to our by-laws’ requirements, the Vestry on Tuesday elected Corky Kuykendall and Kimberly Kinser to serve through January 2014. We thank them for their willingness to serve.
To all the “Office Angels” who have been helping out so faithfully over the years. Our office could not run without you all! The hours for the office angels are changing to 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday. With that change will come some new faces. Thank you to all who have volunteered.
This year, the women of the diocese are invited to enjoy a program facilitated by the Rev. Luis Rodriguez on the life, spirituality, and theology of Julian of Norwich, a 14th century English mystic and anchorite. Julian’s Revelations of Divine Love is recommended reading for the retreat. The retreat will be at Evergreen Conference Center (ECCO) in Oakhurst. More information is available at the back of the church on the Ministry Table.
On behalf of all who enjoyed our soup suppers during Lent this year, we would like to say a big THANK YOU to Fellowship and all the volunteers who made and served food and set tables and cleaned up. The food was delicious! You made a great time of fellowship and community possible. We appreciate you!
For those who would like to preview the lectionary for Sunday, March 31, the scriptures are: Acts 10:34-43; 1 Corinthians 15:19-26; Psalm 118:1-2,14-24; and Luke 24:1-12.
