Community Garden

The garden workdays are on Saturdays from 9-11. This is a time when someone from the parish is present to open the shed and provide tools to use such as turning forks, hoes, and rake. We need adult members of the parish who are willing to supervise on Saturdays when volunteers show up looking for direction.  I’m looking for 5-6 people who can commit to 2 hours on a Saturday once every other month.  Please let Aleathea Langone know if you can help.

Coffee Hour Sponsors

We are asking groups to pick a Sunday and sponsor coffee hour.  Check with your group or guild and let Penny in the office know what Sunday is good for you.  Other groups agreeing to take part in this are the Office Angels, Garden Committee and the Ladies Dinner Night.  Thank you for participating in this important ministry.

A Note From Our Organist

My sincere and enthusiastic “thank-you!” to those who made donations toward the organ mirror. It was designed and crafted by MichaelJon, Woodworker, of Lockeford, and it will allow me to see the back of the church, and our worship leaders while I am playing. It is  a beautiful and useful tool for St. John’s, and I really appreciate it!

Sunday School

This month we’re counting down to the beginning of a new year in Sunday school. Please mark your calendar for September 8 and plan to be here to dig in to a fresh new curriculum. Spark is out, Connect is in! We think the kids will enjoy exploring Bible stories with a bit of quirky humor every week. Come check it out!

Volunteer to Teach Sunday School

Have you been wanting to spend more time getting to know the children of the parish and letting them bless your life? Have you been looking for a way to serve God by sharing the good news of what God has done with others? Come and teach Sunday school! Each week a team of two leaders guides our elementary-school age children through a lesson, discussion, and activities that are easy to lead and rewarding to teach!  You would be teaching once every 4 to 6 weeks.  Please speak to Penny Wilson in the church office for more information and to be added to our teaching rotation. Thank you!
